Settings for Facebook Pixel ID and Facebook Conversion Access-Token

Settings for Facebook Pixel ID and Facebook Conversion Access-Token

What
For effective tracking of marketing data, Facebook recommends using the conversion access-token in combination with the Facebook pixel.

Where
Admin: Store > Webshop settings > Tracking.

Facebook's best practices recommend using the Facebook Conversion API (Conversion Access-Token) in combination with the Facebook pixel to track marketing data in order to create website events as effectively as possible. This data can be analyzed via the Facebook Event Manager.

The Facebook settings for your own webshop can be found here: Admin: Store > Webshop settings > Tracking.

The following requirements are needed to use a conversion API

  1. Pixel ID
If a pixel has already been set up for the website, we recommend using the same pixel ID for the browser and server events.

  2. Business Manager
The Business Manager helps advertisers to integrate Facebook marketing measures in their company and with external partners. If you do not yet have a Business Manager, you can find instructions on how to create a Business Manager account here: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1710077379203657?id=180505742745347

  3. Access key (access-token)
We recommend creating the access-token via the Facebook Event Manager.

Where can I find the pixel ID and where is it stored for the webshop?

Procedure:
1. The pixel ID can be seen in the "Facebook Event Manager" under "Data sources".

2. The pixel ID is stored in the Admin: Store > Webshop settings > Tracking > Facebook Pixel ID.

If you have a webshop without your own administration options, please give our support team the pixel ID so that we can enter it for you if you want to use this Facebook function.

How do I create a Facebook conversion access key (access-token)?

The access-token must first be generated so that it is passed as a parameter with every API call.

Procedure:
1. Open the "Facebook Event Manager".
2. Click on "Data sources" and select the pixel to be implemented.
3. Click on the "Settings" tab.
4. Scroll to the "Conversion API" section and under "Set up manually" click on the "Generate access-token" link.

Note:
The "Generate access-token" link is only visible to users with developer rights for the company. The link is hidden for other users, even if you have administrator rights.

5. Copy the generated access-token and paste it into the "Facebook Conversion Access-Token" field in the Admin (Admin: Store > Webshop settings > Tracking > Facebook Conversion Access-Token).

If you have a webshop without your own administration options, please give our support the access-token so that we can enter it for you if you want to use this Facebook function.

How do I create a Facebook Conversion Test Event Code?

The Facebook Conversion Test Event Code can be used to check whether the server events are being received correctly by Facebook. The code consists of numbers and letters.

Procedure:
1. Open the "Facebook Event Manager".
2. Click on "Data sources" and select your pixel ID.
3. Click on "Test events" and copy the displayed test event code.

4. Paste this copied test event code into the Admin, into the field "Facebook Conversion Test Event Code" (Admin: Store > Webshop Settings > Tracking > Facebook Conversion Test Event Code).

5. Then click on "Save for test shop" and check whether the connection to the Facebook Conversion API is working. For live operation, empty the "Facebook Conversion Test Event Code" field beforehand.

Note:
The "Facebook Conversion Test Event Code" field is only used for testing purposes. This field must be emptied if the usage data is to be sent for production.

Events that are sent with Facebook Conversion Test Event Code are not discarded. It flows into the Event Manager and is used for targeting and advertising measurement purposes.
